Marconi is Running Against ‘Clear the Land’ in Rural North
In Belize Rural North, P.U.P. standard bearer Marconi Leal has had to cover twenty-three villages with a population of roughly five thousand registered voters. It’s been an arduous journey traveling across the constituency where he will be facing incumbent area representative Edmond Castro at the polls one week from today. This morning, we asked him about his vote seeking efforts in Rural North.
Marconi Leal, P.U.P. Standard Bearer, Belize Rural North
“Over the last few weeks, I’ve been on the ground everyday with a team, campaigning one village at a time, day by day and I have about two or three more full days and I am finished with all twenty-three villages, covering every house, house to house.”
Isani Cayetano
“What has been perhaps the primary concern that has been shared with you as a politician by these constituents? What is the major issue that they are discussing?”
Marconi Leal
“Well every village you go to, every single village I go to the primary concern would be jobs, number one and also a lack of development. They are not seeing any development in the community, you know, people want jobs. People are struggling all over [Belize] Rural North. They are ready for a change, people want a change. They are hungry.”
