PACT offers grants for eco-projects

It’s not often organisations advertise the fact that they have money to give away but that’s just what the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is doing. PACT is inviting registered non-governmental groups, community based organisations, schools, village councils and town boards to submit project proposals for funding. The maximum grant for initiatives like protected areas management, eco-tourism and community development and environmental education or awareness is $35,000 while environmental youth programs can receive up to $2,000. To find out more about these grants, you can contact the PACT office in Belmopan at phone number 08-23637 or email them at grant.pact@btl.net. PACT gets the money for these grants by charging visitors to Belize a $7.50 conservation fee as they leave the country.
