Update from M.O.E. on Schools to be Used for Elections

As we told you in our Wednesday night’s newscast, teachers are to work from home due to the flooding. Chief Education Officer, Doctor Carol Babb has advised teachers to stay at home for the rest of the week but once the weather clears up by Monday they are all to report to work.  But next week, for those teachers whose schools are being used for the General Elections, they are advised to work from home and return to school until after the classrooms are sanitized.  Here’s how Babb explains it.

“As we are all aware, schools that are used as polling stations or counting stations, those teachers are asked to work from home. Only schools that are polling stations or counting stations, teachers are to work from home on Tuesday. On Wednesday which is a public and bank holiday. And they are to stay at home the Thursday also to ensure that their classrooms are properly sanitized.”

“So, Monday they should go in?”

“Monday they should go in, weather permitting. If the weather improves, we expect them to go back but if the weather is the same as it is now of course we don’t expect them to go back. But I will keep them informed. I will keep the general managers informed. I will send out messages from Sunday evening if the weather remains the same.”
