18 month old baby dies in traffic knockdown
An 18-month old baby has become the nation’s latest traffic victim. On Tuesday evening Marnilla Garcia, a 24-year-old mother of five was walking down the main road in Cayo’s Valley of Peace. Her children walked at her side on the right side of the road. From the opposite direction a red pickup drove towards them and while it is not exactly clear how it happened, the vehicle knocked down year and a half old Nelson Garcia, killing him on the spot. The driver, 25-year-old farmer George Eduardo Monterrosa, had no valid license and no insurance on his vehicle. He has been arrested and charged with those two offenses as well as manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
