10-Year-Old Girl Raped in Punta Gorda

There is an unsettling case of rape of a ten-year-old girl in Punta Gorda. Police say that the incident happened last Friday inside the child’s home. The little girl and a five-year-old sibling were left in the company of a baby-sitter who reportedly stepped out of the house and that is when the disturbing crime happened. Two men went to rob the home and that is when one of them raped the child. The child’s mother went to police and reported the incident. ACP Joseph Myvett shares more.

“She reported that she had left her two female children, ages five and ten years old, in the company of a domestic worker who works for them and during the course, sometime around ten-thirty a.m, the domestic worker left to run an errand when they were approached by two Creole descent male persons who entered the home and demanded monies. As a result, the home was ransacked and the ten-year-old was raped by one of those persons. Police are conducting an investigation into this matter and we are following those in relation to this investigation.”

“Any examination done on the minor?”

“Yes it was done and proven that she was sexually molested.”

“Sir, is it believed that these suspects were monitoring this house to get an exact time to know that there would be no adults in this area?”

“We do not believe so because then how would you know that no one would have been at that home. So, as I said, we are following several leads and have interviewed several persons in relation to this investigation.”
