False robbery report results in arrest
It was a crime report that seemed so fishy we never bothered to report it. Today the alleged victim who made the report now finds himself charged for a crime. On Friday afternoon nineteen year old Jose Herrera, a teacher of Black Orchid Street in Belize City, told police that while walking on East Canal he was attacked by a tall dark man who brandished a yellow handled weapon. Herrera claimed the assailant robbed him of $3,000 in cash and another $400 in personal items. By Saturday, after scrutiny of his story by police, Herrera admitted that there was no tall dark man and that the whole incident was a fabrication. He has been charged with the offence of committing a mischievous act.
