PM John Briceño to Announce Cabinet on Friday
The new prime minister will now have to decide on a new cabinet. The constitution allows PM John Briceño to appoint two-thirds of his winning slate, which means that some of his area representatives will have to be on the back bencher. Briceño says that by Friday, his cabinet will be announced.

“Well we expect that by sometime tomorrow we will be announcing the cabinet and by Monday morning we are going to be having the oath of office. We have to do in groups of five because of the pandemic and the instruction request of the Governor General and then on Monday afternoon we plan to have our first Cabinet briefing on the financial situation, on COVID-19, the flooding that is presently affecting us.”

“You have twenty-six members elected with a massive mandate, huge margins, how do you tell ten maybe eleven of these people, you can’t be in the Cabinet?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Well we always have to be remember why we were elected. We were elected as representatives of the people of your constituency and not as your minister. Secondly, the constitution prevents me from having everybody in the Cabinet. We can only have two-thirds of those who have been elected so we have to follow the law. We are going to do our best to have a proper balance in the cabinet and to ensure that we could put the right people in the right cases.”
