National Sports Council’s Case File Forwarded to D.P.P.
There is another investigation that has been moving at a snail’s pace. It involves questionable cash transactions in respect of former Minister of Sports, Herman Longsworth and others at the National Sports Council. As you know, an audit into the finances of the council was conducted by the Auditor General. She found that public funds were deposited to the Albert Committee bank account and that a company linked to Longsworth, Go Enterprises, was paid to do work a few days before the general elections. Since then, Longsworth and several others remain the subject of a criminal investigation into the misappropriation of tens of thousands of dollars. ComPol Chester Williams, in a one-on-one interview with News Five, said that the case file has been forwarded to the D.P.P.

“We have also made some inroads. And the last I spoke with the investigator, which was earlier this week, he had said that the file would be submitted to the D.P.P. office for instructions. I anticipate by now it should be with the D.P.P. and we are going to await her directive. We don’t expect the D.P.P. instruction to come very quickly because it is a very thick file and there is a lot that she will have to go through so that she can advise the police in terms of how we proceed. So we’re just going to wait for that and then we see how we go from there.”
