Former B.T.L. Chair Racked Up $859,197 in Credit Card, Fuel, and Insurance
Details are beginning to emerge on the charges made to the B.T.L. corporate credit card by its former chairman, Net Vasquez. These were racked up generally for personal matters and not for company business. When it came to public attention, Vasquez resigned and the former government appointed Allan Slusher to lead the probe at B.T.L. and an audit was set in train. The information tonight is that Vasquez owed B.T.L. eight hundred and fifty-nine thousand one hundred and ninety-seven dollars and eighty-seven cents. This figure includes six hundred and eighty-four thousand one hundred and ninety-seven dollars and sixty-nine cents on credit card charges, one hundred and twenty-two thousand six hundred and eleven dollars and fifty-nine cents on outstanding telephone bills for Tropical Vision, fuel charges of twenty-nine thousand two hundred and thirty-one dollars and seventy-five cents, insurance premiums for twenty-two thousand nine hundred and fifty-six dollars. That’s a total eight hundred and fifty-nine thousand one hundred and ninety-seven dollars and eighty-seven cents. So cash repayments of one hundred and sixty-eight thousand nine hundred and forty-five dollars and forty cents were made via salary deductions and to further reduce the large sum owed, a contract was issued to Channel Sevn for advertising for a twenty-six month period. The total of that contract is three hundred and thirty-six thousand three hundred and seventy-five dollars. So, all in all, when you crunch the numbers, there is a pending balance of three hundred and fifty-three thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven dollars and forty-seven cents owed by the former chairman to B.T.L. Information to News Five suggests that the fat contract to Tropical Vision was cancelled following the audit which means that Vasquez would also owe the three hundred and thirty-six thousand three hundred and seventy-five dollars.
