Courts 2000 raffle begins
With Lotto apparently in suspended animation and the Princess reserved for high rollers, it looks like the get rich quick hopes of many Belizeans are now riding on the numerous raffles offered by business houses. And in Belize there’s no bigger raffle than the one at Courts.

Five boxes representing each branch of Courts Belize Limited and holding tickets for the 2,000 and Win prize draw were lined up inside the headquarters of the furniture and electrical superstore in Belize City.

“This year we are following along the same pattern like the years before because that’s what the customers are asking for. What we had done last year, we had a winner in each branch and people were really into that, so it’s five draws for this year.”
This morning the first draw took place. A customer shuffled the tickets and picked the winners who received $2,000 each. They are: Marcelina Nah from Orange Walk, Ange Cruz from Belmopan, Desmond Gordon from Dangriga, Neida Waight from San Ignacio and Paul Myers from Belize City. There are three more similar draws scheduled to take place before the national draw in December. Anamarie Bennett, the Advertising and Promotions Executive for Courts Belize told News Five why they decided to make this years’ grand prize far more attractive.

“We always try to give customers what they want and we find that people…when we first open we gave away two vehicles and immediately the winners they sold it. So we found out that customers wanted money so we changed our draw so we gave away money instead with the expansion and so in Belize City we found that people are into housing now and we know that customers will definitely love that idea. The house and land is worth over $80,000. The reason we are saying $80,000 we plan to do some furnishing inside as well.”
For every $50 spent at Courts you receive one raffle ticket, which gives you the chance to enter all the draws, including the big one for the house and lot.
