Man charged with Placencia rape
A laborer from Independence is accused of raping and robbing a woman from Placencia on Thursday. Police picked up 46 year old Wilbert Garcia after a report from the victim, a 44 year old woman, who said that Garcia entered her home around 5:00pm, attacked her, threatened her with a kitchen knife and then raped her. Afterwards she ran outside and escaped, but later discovered he had stolen a diamond ring valued at $4,000. Police immediately detained Garcia. He has been charged with rape, robbery, burglary and wounding.
