Humanity First Helping Families with Pantry

Humanity First – it’s the community service arm of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Belize.  Like others, such as N.G.O.s and NEMO, as well as private entities, Humanity First has been going across the country providing pantry to families who have been affected by the floods of hurricane Eta and Iota. Approximately eight hundred families from across central and northern Belize have benefited from the care packages that include food supplies. But as we found out from the local missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the group has been helping families who have lost their income due to COVID-19 with supplies as well.

“We have gotten funds from Humanity First, approximately five thousand dollars Belize. Gollado Services and Hardware of Belmopan, they grouped together a bunch of people who have given us some supplies and our own Ahmadiyya Muslim Community put together some money and the Ahmadiyya basketball league also did so with a barbecue fundraiser. So far we have helped over eight hundred families within Belize since the flooding. It’s a tragedy at this point of time, people are suffering at the moment. We went to Belize rural north with Marconi Leal; we helped Burrell Boom, Crooked Tree and all these different places that are not accessible by car at this moment. So many people were very much grateful for the help. We are not doing this for fame or popularity or for the spread of Islam. We are doing this to live by the creed that we have – love for all and hatred for none – and to be people that serve others.”
