Artists record song to protect children
The message is definitely out about the Belizean “Jack the Ripper” but the reality of what he is doing still hasn’t sunk into many heads, large and small. Just this week, two young girls were reported missing. Thankfully they’ve returned safely home. But are we just holding our breath, hoping and praying that there won’t be another little girl found dead? One group of young people is determined to make a difference, through music. After just one week of hard work and through the generosity of many concerned citizens just like you and me, we’ve got the song that’s going to EDU-TAIN the sweet Belizean child. But the song and the video are just the beginning.
Choir singing
“My sweet Belizean child. Why must they put through so much pain….”
William Neal, Executive Producer
“Many times growing up, you tell a child, if it were a song you’d learn it. We’re hoping that the message contained within the song gets them to sing it and at the same time learn it and follow the advice that we’ve worked so hard to capture within the song.”
Guy rapping
“Parents be careful what you say around your child, cause your the biggest example in their lives…”
William Neal
“And also to encourage kids to talk to their parents and parents to talk to their kids and for the entire community to get back to that idea that it’s a community thing, raising a child.”
“We’re trying to get corporate sponsors and the reasoning for that is support three things. One, NOPCA, two the National Children’s Choir and thirdly, the Young Artists Association. What our plan is to split it 40-30-30 among the three groups and for YAA, what we’ll do with the money is we want to go from district to district on Saturdays, have all day workshops with kids, using singing, rapping, dancing etc. And then at the end of the day, have a performance where they’ll see their favorite YAA artists and at the same time they’ll be incorporated in the show.”

On behalf of the producers, we would like to thank the members of the Young Artists Association, the National Children’s Choir and the independent artists, who donated time and energy to produce this song. “Sweet Belizean Child” should be released to radio stations countrywide early next week. The song’s video is still a work in progress, but should be out soon. The footage used in this story comes courtesy of Hopeton Hemmings and Bel-Caribe Communications.
