Immigration Dept. conducts training
The Immigration and Nationality Department opened its annual training session today at the Police Academy in Belmopan. The department’s entire staff will attend three one-week seminars on a rotational basis in subjects such as powers of arrest, search and custody of prisoners and suspects, management and prosecution of immigration offenses. Instructors have been drawn from the Public Service Training Unit, the Director of Public Prosecutions Office and the Magistracy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Police Department and the Belize Tourism Board. Presentations will also be made by personnel from the UNHCR, and the Embassies of Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador.
