Nude photos at House of Culture

Story Picture
The photographs of Richard Holder are being featured at the House of Culture beginning this Wednesday. Holder’s subject matter is the nude female form. Neither the show, nor the individual photos have any titles, to cover them, just as his models aren’t wearing any clothes. Holder says the show is completely nude so the viewer is free to develop his or her own impressions.

Richard Holder, Photographer

“My nudes are a little different from the stuff you see in, if you are familiar with Playboy or Penthouse or stuff like that. I try to focus more on the composition, on creating something interesting within the picture that you could immediately enjoy. They are not necessarily about sex like I said. A lot of people have that idea that once someone takes their clothes off it’s all about sex and completely sexual and offensive, some people have hesitations about that. I think if they come to the show they will leave enlightened and they might find an appreciation for nudes in photography.”

The photography show runs through April 7th and is open for viewing from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. The House of Culture is open during the lunch hour.
