Two injured in accident in Stann Creek

Two men are in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following an accident in the Stann Creek District on Monday. Haisam Diab of Belize City told police he was heading back to Belize City from Dangriga in a Dodge Ram around 10 o’clock when he approached a narrow, blind bridge between miles 34 and 35. He says he slowed down but collided with a vehicle driven by Derick Longsworth of Paradise Shrimp farm. Both Derick Longsworth and Francis Longsworth received severe injuries with Derick sustaining serious damage to his legs. According to the Hospital both are listed as being in a stable condition and there were no internal injuries. News Five understands that the family is planning to take Derick Longsworth to the United States for further treatment. Diab received minor injuries in the accident.
