Shooting spree leaves one dead and several injured
In other crime news, Police say at this time they do not know why 19 year old Clifford Clare was shot and killed on Saturday, but it is believed the death may have been the result of a misunderstanding earlier that night. Clare’s family declined to be interviewed by News Five, but according to the police about 10:20 that night, Clare who lives across the street from the basketball court on Mahogany Street Extension got into an argument with 24 year old Mendelson Terry, of Zacaranda Street. Clare’s brother Darren Banks then got involved. Terry received a cut to the left side of his neck and Banks received two cuts to his back. Police say their investigation reveals that Terry then ran off while Banks left to get medical attention. Clare who had not been injured during the fight left the scene and walked over to his house. Witnesses told police Clare was standing in his yard with a couple of friends when a youth on a white bike rode up and fired shots. A bullet hit Clare in the head and a 13-year-old girl received a shot to her back. A 14-year-old was also wounded in the arm. All three were rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital but Clare died Sunday afternoon. Police say they have detained one person and are looking for another man in connection with the incident.
