Man charged with beating of nurse

Following the savage beating of a retired nurse on Monday evening, today, 30 year old Levi Jackson was charged with dangerous harm and harm. He was denied bail and remanded to the Hattieville Correctional facility. In an interview yesterday with News Five, 83 year old Ilma McCann recounted a horrific account of the attack, which took place in her home. According to McCann, she, Noreen Jackson and Betty Rudon were inside her house on Eve Street when Levi Jackson, Noreen Jackson’s son, broke down the door and began to viciously beat McCann and Rudon. McCann escaped the brunt of the violence but tonight Betty Rudon remains in a serious condition at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. She has regained consciousness although she is still disoriented and is now able to move slightly. As a result of the attack, Rudon suffered severe trauma to her skull and face and injury to her brain. In our interview, Ilma McCann also alleged that during the attack, she called police but when they arrived, they saw Rudon lying on the floor in a pool of blood but simply walked away. Police Public Relations Officer Christy Castillo told us this evening that Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the allegation and statements are being taken. So far no charges have been filed against the officers in question. Castillo would not confirm reports to News Five that Jackson has a brother in the police force but said that would have no relevance to the investigation.
