Search continues for drowned man
The body of a man believed to have drowned yesterday in the sea off the Port Loyola area has still not been found. At the time of his disappearance, Kelvin Dennis Barrow was trying to elude police. The pursuit had both Barrow and an officer in the sea for over an hour in plain view of many residents of the area. Today some of those same residents say they expected the Police to be out in full force looking for him today, but when they scanned the horizon they were disappointed. Some of Barrow’s friends say they decided to search the sea themselves.

“Four boat and each boat have in about six young men and we set the nets. For instance, the current is going so, so we set the nets so we could have needed them to say if the man drowned. Maybe he is to the bottom, but the police no have no kind of interest. No security people, the security personnel according to the men them it is no death, no drowning that just gone like that. They chase Brambles into the water and Brambles just disappear like that we no the worry about that and we feel it as much as their family.”
Police, however, say the reason they weren’t on the sea today was because they’ve been experiencing “logistical” problems–they couldn’t find a boat to use. However, they say divers from the BDF Maritime Wing were in the area this afternoon and will be there tomorrow as well. Kelvin “Brambles” Barrow went into the water Thursday afternoon after a fight with his girlfriend’s stepfather, an off duty Police Officer. Another officer chased him in the sea and has told police he decided to come back in after he realized the water was getting deeper and never saw Barrow go under. When the police picked up the officer in the water, they claim they couldn’t find Barrow and left to go get help. Eyewitnesses told News Five that the boat, which picked up the police officer, should have looked longer for Barrow. Police say their investigations into the case have been hampered by the fact that, despite their willingness to appear on TV, no eyewitnesses have made an official Police Report about the incident.
