P.G. Police investigate series of fires
Punta Gorda Police are investigating a series of fires on Sunday, which they believe may be linked. The first was just after one am when Herman Muschamp’s thatched roof shed on Cayetano Street caught fire. Two hours later Winston Lopez reported that someone threw a quart bottle filled with gasoline through a bedroom window in his house on Far West Street. The bottle broke and the bed caught fire, fortunately no one was hurt. In the third incident, also on Far West Street, Russell Arzu awoke to find his thatched roof kitchen on fire. Police say the fires may be related to an argument between some youths outside the Punta Gorda Sports Club earlier that night. They are also following up on a lead that some gang members recently released from the Hattieville Prison were involved in the dispute at the club. Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
