Curfew for Minors Cleared Up
While the curfew for adults has been extended to ten p.m. for the next thirty days, the restriction on movement for minors remained a concern for parents, particularly those whose children are at the babysitter until after five p.m., when they get off work. Immediately following the press conference, the Attorney General’s Office went into a meeting during which those discrepancies were ironed out. This morning, Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa provided an update.

“Because of this very grey area and the discretionary use that we were putting on the police to access whether the parent was actually picking up their child to take them home. The Attorney General Ministry decided to just make it a proviso across the board to say that so long as long children are with their parents or guardians after six p.m. that will be allowed. So there is no need for an excuse to be provided. The restriction on minors at six p.m. is limited to minors who are out on the street by themselves.”
