New Bill is No Threat to Judges
Security of tenure is what Acting Chief Justice Michelle Arana is clamoring for on behalf of the judiciary, but there is concern that a new law will threaten their stay on the bench. The proposed legislation is still in its infancy but there is mounting concern about its consequences. Not only will the piece of law guarantee that decisions are rendered in a timely manner, but according to Attorney General Magali Marin-Young, it will not discriminate against the bench.

“This measure is not to victimize judges, it is to hold them more accountable. It is to have them uphold their constitutional duty to ensure that trials are done within a reasonable time and fairly.”
