UNICEF Country Rep Meets with Foreign Minister
UNICEF Country Rep Alison Parker met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Eamon Courtenay on Wednesday where the UNICEF Rep shared the organization’s priorities and support activities in Belize with senior officials of the ministry. Among those activities include UNICEF’s birth registration campaign and ongoing COVID-19 related assistance. In the meeting, opportunities to advance child protection and safeguards in Belize, with a focus to recalibrate efforts in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed. While commending UNICEF, Minister Courtenay addressed the urgency to review the criterion for graduating small, highly indebted middle-income countries from access to concessional resources.
