Infant’s throat cut

It was a terrible discovery to begin with and now the story appears to be even more shocking. A post mortem today on an infant found over the weekend in Dangriga indicates that it was not an aborted fetus but a healthy child–born alive–whose throat was deliberately cut. Police are now treating the case as a homicide. Estradabran told the police that the newborn was a six and a half-pound baby girl and the cause of death was traumatic asphyxia. He believes the same instrument, which cut the umbilical cord, was used to slit the infant’s throat. Police say they are still interviewing people in Dangriga to try and find the mother and anyone else who may be able to assist in their investigation. Residents found the corpse on Saturday on the bank of Havana Creek.
