G.O.B.’s Budget Consultations Continue
The National Trade Congress of Belize will be meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde, Education Minister Francis Fonseca, and the Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform Henry Usher for a budget consultation. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday as part of the Briceño Administration’s consultations with different stakeholders ahead of March’s budget presentation. A release from the umbrella union says that “The inclusion of the National Trade Union Congress and other social partners in the proposed budget planning is significant.” The N.T.U.C.B. is calling on the government to disseminate necessary information to the participants of this meeting to ensure informed participation. The N.T.U.C.B. also encourages social partners and all stakeholders to maintain civil discourse and denounce bias and harmful rhetoric. The N.T.U.C.B. says that the reform of the economy should take precedence and not be overshadowed by harmful political propaganda.
