Terminated S.C.P.C. Manager Speaks Out!
Two weeks ago we told you about the termination of Sugar Cane Production Committee Manager Naim Cal who was fired by Chairman Marcos Osorio. As we previously reported, Cal’s predecessor was also sacked at the end of December and a month after Cal was hired, he, too, was fired. We had reached out to Cal at the time of the termination, but he didn’t respond. Now he says he wants to give his side of what happened. Cal tells us that police were indeed called because he was reported as being uncooperative, which he denies. He claims he was let go due to a campaign led by Osorio. Here’s his version of the story.
On the Phone: Naim Cal, Former S.C.P.C. Manager
“The day I was fired, he mentioned some stuff in the interview that I believe isn’t true. He mentioned that police wasn’t involved but that is why I maintain my word that it was a set up because at the time he fired me he did it with a lot of people around. The way it was done wasn’t appropriate and not professional. I wasn’t given a warning, a verbal warning, no email or letter warning. He just decided for himself to fire me on the spot because he wasn’t in agreement with couple points that he saw as a major issue. Everything was working fine and going great, it is just that supposedly because of a budget that I was able to manage and the day he fired me on the spot, the budget was approved by the stakeholders and even so the stakeholders didn’t know I was fired on the spot. And in his interview with you, Andrea, he mentioned that he decided to fire me so this situation became personal. So, on my end, honestly I was shocked.”
Chairman Marcos Osorio told News Five that he didn’t want to share details of the termination, but said that the post of the S.C.P.C. chair needed someone who can make decisions and not be manipulated by other stakeholders in the sugar industry.
