Almost 700lbs of Mexican Weed Busted in the North

There was a sizeable haul of high-grade Mexican marijuana in Yo Chen, Corozal District on Monday morning, despite the suspected smugglers being able to evade capture.  Police confiscated almost seven hundred pounds of cannabis found inside a vehicle abandoned by a pair of men who took off on foot after seeing the officers.  Twenty-nine bales were discovered inside the vehicle, along with an AK-47 rifle and two magazines containing eighty rounds.  There was also another high-powered rifle with fifty-one rounds of ammunition in a knapsack.  Commissioner of Police Chester Williams spoke about the seizure.

“In the Corozal District, police were on operation when they saw two individuals.  Upon seeing the police the individuals ran, leaving the vehicle behind.  And the police searched the vehicle which is a GMC pickup truck, double cab.  Inside the vehicle, police found one AK-47 rifle and one m-4 carbine rifle and several bales of what we believe to be Mexican, high-grade weed.  The police are still in the process of processing the weed or the cannabis and as soon as we have the exact amount of kilos or weight, we will be sharing that with the media.”
