Tourist dies in diving incident
An American tourist has died while diving off Half Moon Caye, but the post mortem says he had a chronic lung disease. Reports are that on Wednesday fifty-six year old Harvey Philip Weiner from Columbus, Ohio died shortly after he came up from a dive that afternoon. Michael Colien, an American dive instructor, said he, Weiner and two other divers were diving from the Nekton Pilot. Shortly after four p.m., Colien said Weiner surfaced, got up onto the dive platform of the boat and then collapsed. Weiner was taken to Half Moon Caye and later to K.H.M.H. where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Today a post mortem examination revealed that Weiner died as a result of Acute Pulmonary Edema or fluid retention in the lungs, which was caused by chronic lung disease.
