Was a Suspected Drug Plane Ever in Belizean Airspace this Weekend?
Was a suspected drug plane seen or heard hovering in the north over the weekend? The police department says no. Others in the media, however, are adamant that credible information they received placed an aircraft in Belizean airspace on Saturday night. While Commissioner of Police Chester Williams chided the reporting of the incident, he admitted that three persons were initially taken into custody, but were later released. Interestingly, among the trio of men was a Colombian consultant who was in the company of Belizean tour guides.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We had three persons who were detained and those persons were a tour guide and a Columbian consultant and that is it.”

“What is the circumstance surrounding their detention?”
Chester Williams
“Yes, because based on Jules Vasquez’s post, the police responded to an area to search for a plane. The issue with these persons is that they were in a particular area doing their work. The police encountered them, they interviewed them and they no plane landed, unless Mr. Vasquez had the plane hidden somewhere in his backyard.”

“Sir, you know you all received independent, credible reports from people who work on the ground in that area that dehn hyah wahn plane flying low and these are credible people. Da noh villagers, per se.”
Chester Williams
“Mr. Vasquez, there are reports everyday of planes flying low. At this time, we have a number of late flights, local and international. We have flights leaving San Pedro even up to eight p.m., so the information of late flights or of planes flying low up to around nine p.m. is not unusual right now.”
