B.N.T.U. to Hold Simultaneous Motorcades across the Country
News Five has confirmed that teachers will take to the streets across the country in their green shirts on Tuesday for simultaneous protest motorcades in each municipality. It is part the union’s response G.O.B.’s proposal for a ten percent salary cut and an increment freeze for an additional three years for teachers and public officers. Among the series of events leading up to the budget presentation on March twenty-sixth are a candlelight vigil on March eighteenth and the motorcade. B.N.T.U. National President, Senator Elena Smith says its members have given the union its mandate.

“We have indeed planned a series of events and we will continue to do those events from now until, I believe, it is Easter time; we will be working on those. And during that time, as I said, whatever comes to us, we are going to be reviewing. We will be going back to our members for another mandate and whatever it is that our members tell us to do that is what we’ll be doing. So I cannot guarantee you what will happen, but I know our members’ voices will be heard.”
