Schools to Reopen on April twelfth, One Year After Closure
Students at various levels of academic life will finally begin returning to their classrooms on April twelfth, but not everyone goes back at once. That’s the date that has been set by the Ministry of Education for schools to begin reopening after a year of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Tuesday, Cabinet approved a plan from the ministry for a phased return to face-to-face instruction in schools across the country. The announcement comes amid a series of negotiations between the Briceño administration and the joint unions regarding a proposed salary cut for teachers and public officers. Also presented during yesterday’s cabinet meeting was an update from G.O.B.’s union budget consultation team and its intent to continue further discussions on the way forward.
