San Pedro teens return home, companion charged with rape
A man from El Salvador has been arrested and charged with rape and unlawful carnal knowledge after two runaway girls returned home. On Wednesday January twelfth, we reported two girls age fifteen and fourteen had gone missing and had told their families they were on their way to Canada. Two days later, however, on the fourteenth, the girls returned home. That same day, police picked up twenty-five-year-old Carlos Bedran, a Salvadoran living in San Pedro, and charged him with rape and unlawful carnal knowledge of both girls. According to the family, the girls told them they were planning to go to Corozal but never actually left San Pedro.
