Mexican Pilot Case Adjourned
A Mexican accused of landing a drug plane in Belize, Miguel Cruz Meseguer, was taken before the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, but the prosecution was not prepared to carry on with the case against him so the matter was further adjourned until March thirtieth. Meseguer was one of six Central American men who were facing drug trafficking-related offenses. The group was accused of landing a plane loaded with almost three thousand pounds of cocaine off the Coastal Road in September 2020. The others were three Hondurans and two Ecuadorians who were charged with possession of controlled drugs and landing an aircraft without permission from the Minister of Civil Aviation. They were freed in January for lack of evidence; however, the police maintain they have sufficient evidence against Meseguer to prosecute him.
