4 Drug Planes and Firearms Are Sold by G.O.B. in February
Back in June of last year, four airplanes that were seized during drug plane landings in the country were sold by the Barrow administration for under a million Belize dollars. The business jets were said to be in a state of disrepair and sold via a bidding process as a joint venture between the former Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Finance. Well News Five has confirmed that one month ago, in February 2021, the Briceño administration sold four additional aircraft. Our news team has obtained a leaked copy of the approval letter which says that the Minister of Finance approved the waiver of boarding and sale four unserviceable airplanes for only five hundred and forty thousand dollars, inclusive of all taxes and duties. The aircrafts which are located at the Philip Goldson International Airport, Crooked Tree Village and the B.D.F. Air Wing are two Grumman Gulfstream G-Two aircrafts, one white and the other tan, and two Hawker Sidley H.S. 125 aircrafts. Today, Minister of National Defense and Border Security, Florencio Marin Junior was questioned about the transaction.
Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defence and Border Security
“While we are the custodians of those things, those are done through the office of the Ministry of Finance. I think the question is better directed there. Me, for national security reasons, prefer not to say anything on it.”

“Sir, but as the minister responsible for these assets, wouldn’t you have been informed prior to the sale?”
“Again, I won’t comment on those details.”
Reporter
“By any chance do you have any details in a whole on the aircrafts? They are listed as unserviceable, but we have also seen in the commission of inquiry, most of the vehicles that were listed as unserviceable were in fact in good condition.”
Florencio Marin Jr.
“Again, I am not commenting on our national security issues. So that is totally different kettle of fish.”
