Common-Law Wife Charged with Murder of Omar Kantun
Guatemalan Lesbia Alvarez has been charged for the stabbing death of her common-law husband Omar Kantun. As we reported last week, Kantun was killed inside his home last Friday in Silk Grass Village. An examination revealed he received more than fifty stab wounds. Police say that the file was sent to the D.P.P. and that is how they proceeded with the charge of murder against Alvarez. Here’s more from ACP Joseph Myvett.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Reference the murder of Omar Kantun which occurred last Friday in Silk Grass Village, Police Officers have since arrested and charged fifty-three-year-old Lesbia Alvarez of Silk Grass for the crime of murder, as well as immigration offences.”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir, in that particular case, is there a history of documented abuse with the police?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“There is not a history of documented abuse with the police but as a part of the investigation that is being looked at. Neighbours have been spoken to but those abuse were never reported to the police.”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir, what are officers able to say about what triggered that deadly stabbing?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Obviously it started with a domestic dispute on Thursday night and on Friday morning when the police were called to the scene that was the result of Kantun being found with multiple stab wounds.”
Andrea Polanco
“Sir, do we know if the suspect acted alone in this instance?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Not at this point. We do not know that, the investigation is still in its early stages and we are interviewing witnesses.”
