U.D.P. Area Rep Shyne Barrow Comes Out in Support of Waterloo Project
Another member of the Opposition Shyne Barrow, the Area Representative for Mesopotamia, also spoke during the budget presentation today. He says the Briceño administration needs to do more for parts of Belize like his division where residents are struggling to keep up with the cost of living. In his view, the Port Loyola Expansion Project could provide much needed opportunities.

“One of the ways that this could be done is the Waterloo Project port facility which would bring two thousand five hundred jobs, Madame Speaker, and triple the revenue. It would be a great source of revenue collection, Madame Speaker, so it is these things that I believe the Prime Minister should focus on, should hit the ground running when he got elected, he and his cabinet. So we can bring about poverty alleviation since we are not giving out food aid, we are not giving COVID relief Madam Speaker. We need to employ these people.”
