Footballer suspended for butting ref
It has been the buzz all week in sporting circles and today the disciplinary committee of the Belize Football League handed down its decision on the riotous behavior both on and off the field at Sunday’s game in Dangriga. Felipe Sanchez of Grigamandala was banned from league play for the rest of this season and next for deliberately butting referee Ruperto Vicente during the game against Kulture Yabra. Sanchez had been kicked hard by Tilliman Nuñez and was upset that no card was given by the ref. The two clubs were also fined five hundred dollars each, Grigamandala for selling beer in bottles and Yabra for the general bad behavior of its fans. Yabra is also to fix the door of the ticket booth its fans broke down and team owner Andrew “Papa” Brown is to write a letter of apology for allegedly threatening the referee.
