Man charged in Cayo murder
In an update to a story aired yesterday, twenty-five year old Miguel Angel Ayala has been arrested and charged for rape and murder after a woman’s body was found floating in the Macal River on Monday. Alexi Aldana was found face down in the river near the temporary bridge that connects Santa Elena and San Ignacio. Police investigations revealed Aldana was last seen in the company of two men, one of them Ayala. When police searched Ayala’s home, they found pieces of Aldana’s jewelry hidden away. Ayala’s sister and another man had also been detained by police but have since been released. An autopsy showed Aldana drowned after suffering head injuries.
