Dwayne Myers is Executed in Punta Gorda
Two days after the murder of Kevonn Wade, shots rang out once again in Punta Gorda, about a quarter mile away; near the welcome sign to the municipality. Dwayne Myers was sitting in his vehicle when he was killed. Today, we asked Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett about the incident and if Myers’ murder is related to other recent killings in P.G.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Around 8:10 p.m., police were also called to an area along the seaside at the entrance of Punta Gorda Town where they observed one Dwayne Myers, forty-nine years, sitting inside his white car with apparent gunshot injuries. He was immediately rushed to the Punta Gorda Community Hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment. What the police know so far is that Mister Myers had just reached the area and parked near a bus stop when he was approached by two male persons on a motorcycle who came and fired several shots at him causing injuries, which later led to his death. Upon examination of the scene, two different types of ammunition were found by the police.”

“Are these two murders related?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“We are trying to piece together that to see where they are related. We are following several leads, but at this time there is no confirmation that they are related.”
Duane Moody
“Could this murder be linked to the murder of Dennis Trapp that happened some weeks ago?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“We have heard that story too and that’s a part of the investigation.”
