Christmas stamps have religious theme

Story Picture
Part of the enjoyment of sending parcels and Christmas cards of course are the Christmas stamps. This year, rather than the popular orchids of Belize, the Belize Postal Service has decided to depict religious icons from the Catholic faith. Public relations officer for the post office Verlene Arzu says the paintings chosen, two by unknown European artists are perfect for the holidays.

“The twenty-five cent stamp shows the entire holy family: Mary, Joseph and Jesus, and they are shown here with St. John. The sixty-cent stamp shows the holy family with John. This painting was done by an artist in the second half of the eighteenth century. The seventy-five cent stamp depicts the Madonna with Child, St. John and with an angel. The dollar stamp is the Madonna with Child with St. John and this drawing was by the artist Andre Sabatini.”

The Belize Postal Service would like to extend warm holiday wishes to the Belizean public.
