Cayo radio station to broadcast regional Christian news
It may not be the first radio station to do it but My Refuge Christian Ministries is now linked, via a satellite network, to the rest of the Caribbean. Director Richard Smith says the idea is to counteract North American influences by bringing a Caribbean newscast with a Christian orientation into Belizean homes.

“What C.G.N. is doing is bringing back the Caribbean flavor into our nation. And right now, we have a twenty-four hour signal from Bonaire into Belize City and we are presenting gospel news, news from a Christian perspective.”
The official launch for the satellite network link-up was held earlier today. Newscasts begin at five a.m. every day with reports at the top of the hour, every hour. My Refuge is available on ninety-three point seven FM in Belmopan and one zero five FM in Ladyville.
