Boyfriend of dead woman in Hattieville on firearm charge

As the Gardiner family prepares to bury twenty year old Tanya Gardiner on Thursday, the police are still trying to find out what unfolded inside the young woman’s house on Saturday that caused a twelve gauge sawed off shot gun to go off killing her. According to Mark Anthony August, the victim’s boyfriend, Gardiner was playing with the weapon and even threatened to shoot him but later pointed the gun at her own forehead and pulled the trigger. However, several family members do not believe she committed suicide or shot herself by accident. The family alleges that Gardiner was constantly threatened by Mark August and that the couple had an argument the same night because the young woman told August that the relationship was over. Although police won’t confirm that they are looking at the case as a possible murder, Mark Anthony August has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and when he appeared in court Monday they objected to his being granted bail. The police prosecutor argued that August has a previous conviction, that there are far too many guns and ammunition on the streets and that he is still being investigated in the shooting of Tanya Gardiner. Bail was denied and August has been remanded to Hattieville Prison. He is scheduled to reappear in court on January fourth, two thousand.
