Teenage girl stabbed in Ontario Village

A teenaged girl from Ontario Village in the Cayo District lies in the Belmopan Hospital with multiple stab wounds after reportedly being attacked by another girl. Police say they have reason to believe Kenreen Hewlett may have been stabbed because of a long-standing dispute with a seventeen-year-old student. The incident occurred shortly before eight on Monday evening when Hewlett was on her way home from a rehearsal for a Christmas play. The sixteen-year-old was wounded in the neck, shoulder, abdomen and back and was rushed to the Belmopan Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition. At this time police say they have not brought any charges against the other girl because they have been unable to interview Hewlett about the incident due to her condition.
