Abandoned plane has Venezuelan registration
While they still have no clue as to the whereabouts of the occupants of a small plane that was found near a makeshift runway in the Toledo District last week, police now know the plane’s country of origin. Although the serial number was obscured by white paint, it was registered at some point in Venezuela, although it may have been stolen. Police also believe it was intentionally set on fire then abandoned because there is no indication of a gas leak or electrical problem. Following reports from area residents, the twin engine craft was located by the police and B.D.F. early Friday morning on a stick lined runway in the jungle. An abandoned skiff, without its engine, was found nearby. Although it is suspected that the plane was being used to transport narcotics, no drugs were discovered on either the plane or the skiff.
