Travel Protocols Apply for Border Transportation Too

As we said, Ken Gladden is the site manager at the northern border entry point. His job is to ensure that there is efficiency; that protocols are being adhered to, and that no tourist is entering Belize as a COVID-19 positive case. There are standards in place, even for taxi drivers.

“The gold standard transportation is out here. We have the gold standard transportation who are well qualified. They are the ones who pick up the tourists and take them to their gold standard destination, their hotels.”

“Do you have tourist that say, we want to go on our own? We want to do things on our own?”

“Up to now no. But we do have that they cannot do that. Because the gold standard taxis are well trained and they know that is not supposed to happen.”

“How important do you see your job in keeping the country safe, and ensuring that this must needed finance comes into the country?”

“The protocols that have been set into place is very strict and stringent, it works. And, for now if you are seeing ten tourists coming in daily then that is good sign that the economy will surely receive them. They will play their part.”
