National Parenting Task Force Holds a Male Talk Forum
Today at the Belize Institute of Management, the National Committee for Families and Children, through its National Parenting Task Force held a “Male Talk Forum.” The event, which brings together men from various walks of life, is timely as Father’s Day will be celebrated this weekend. The goal of the forum is to discuss issues that impact the roles and effective contribution of men in our society.
Arthur Usher, Member, National Parenting Task Force
“Today’s event is a part of our activities for the year and putting men in a discussion forum about some of the issues affecting families and children and how our roles define and complete this whole package of family. So the discussion today is primarily around child maintenance and some of these other issues that affect generally the family, but more in particular men. We have approximately fifteen to sixteen men from varying backgrounds, varying economic and social sectors, different levels of education and so again, these issues are cross-cutting so it doesn’t really matter which socio-economic situation you are in, it’s basically how does it affect you as a man.”
