“On Friday twenty-fifth of June, sometime around ten forty p.m., you had some individuals socializing at a yard on Victoria Street, two males and a female. Jeffrey Pott, Dereck Jones, and an elderly lady were socializing when they were approached by a male individual who came up behind a fence and opened fire. The person then ran through an alley opposite where they were and made good their escape. Pott received injuries to his stomach, listed in acritical but stable condition. Jones received injuries to his foot, he is listed in a stable condition. And the female received injuries to the stomach also. She is listed in a critical condition. So far, our investigators are following some leads where they believe that they are obtaining some information and hope to make an arrest soon. On that street in particular, we have a few residents that police constantly visit because of various infractions of the law. So I will not pretty up anything. They were out socializing, which we have begged many times for people to cease from doing at this time due to the pandemic. So for multiple reasons, they were easy targets for being in the open like that, and not knowing what direction any person that may have a conflict wants to launch an attack on you.”
