Young woman shot in head, but not seriously injured

A visit from someone she knew sent one Belize City woman to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to her head over the weekend. Just after two on October thirtieth, twenty-two year old Kenisha Murillo was at home on Nargusta Street when a sixteen year old youth put a gun to her head and it went off. The bullet grazed the left side of her head and Murillo was taken to the K.H.M.H. treated and released. The youth was charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and wounding. Police are investigating reports that the young man was a former boyfriend.

A security guard from AAA Security Services also found himself in the K.H.M.H. with gunshot wounds late Saturday night. Herman Santos reported he was working at Wing On Store on Central American Boulevard when five dark skinned men approached. One of them pulled a gun and then shot him. Another picked up Santos’ sixteen-gauge shotgun and then all five ran off. Yong Ruan, who was inside Wing On, heard the gunshot and found Santos in the street bleeding from the neck. He was taken to the hospital and released earlier today. Police are looking for the assailants.
