New Preschool Allows for Distancing and Hand Washing

Jane Palacio

The Ministry of Education has inaugurated the new building for the San Juan Bosco Preschool. The project was funded through a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank under the Belize Education Sector Reform Programme Two. The pre-school was previously housed in a building owned by the Baptist Mission in the San Juan/Cow Pen Bosco area.

“While we were thankful for the building, we did face some challenges such as spacing and accommodation which were compounded by the current COVID-19 pandemic. This new state of the art preschool building with its beautiful and age appropriate layout, spacious classrooms and child-friendly environment and the bathroom facility will now allow us to accommodate more students and provide them with better and more comfortable seating arrangement and instructional strategies. It couldn’t have come at a better or more appropriate time.”

A press release from the Ministry of Education says that that the new building can accommodate forty students on a shift basis; and comes fitted with hand washing station; appliances, and is built to withstand a category three hurricane.
