Father Francis Ring passes away
A Jesuit Priest who devoted fifty years of his life to serving Belizeans has passed away. Father Francis Ring S.J. died over the weekend at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital at the age of eighty-one. Father Ring came to Belize from the state of Minnesota in 1949 and spent the next half century serving the entire country, living and working in every district beginning in Corozal. During his lengthy teaching career he was on the faculty of La Immaculada College in Orange Walk, St. John’s College in Belize City, Lynam and Sacred Heart Colleges in the Stann Creek District, and St. Peter Claver College in Punta Gorda. He was also the General Manager for Catholic Schools from 1964 to 1969. He spent the last twelve years of his life at St. Peter Claver Parish and will be buried in P.G. on Wednesday. For those in Belize City who would like to pay their respects there will be a special mass on Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Cathedral at four p.m. All friends and former students are invited.
